Johnson, Keys And Nadal Move On

RIO OLYMPICS, Brazil

[22] Steve Johnson (USA) vs. [84] Evgeny Donskoy (RUS)

Johnson just keeps going.  He’s into the quarterfinals after dismantling Donskoy’s game earlier today.  Johnson won 6-1, 6-1.  Things get a little tougher in the next round as he potentially gets Andy Murray.  Can Johnson continue his run and get to the semifinals?

08112016MK[9] Madison Keys (USA) vs. [27] Daria Kasatkina (RUS)

Keys has continued her impressive play at the Olympics.  After coming close to almost losing to Kristina Mladenovic in the second round, she has thwarted any potential right shoulder issues by staying focused.  Keys won 6-3, 6-1 and awaits the winner of Angelique Kerber vs. Johanna Konta.  Keys has a losing record (1:4) to Kerber and has lost all three encounters on hard court.  Can Keys continue to rise to the occasion?

08112016RN[5] Rafael Nadal (ESP) vs. [31] Gilles Simon (FRA)

Despite the 7:1 head-to-head lead that Nadal has against Simon, Nadal knew that Simon can be a dangerous opponent.  Nadal got off to what looked like an impressive start and was serving to go up 5-2 before Simon managed to disrupt his rhythm and got back both breaks to force a tiebreak.  The anxiety that has crept into Nadal’s game of late reared its ugly head and he had to fight through the nerves and a persistent pesky Simon to win 7-6(5), 6-3. How far can Nadal go given his injured wrist and the amount of tennis he is playing?
