Schmiedlova’s Woes Continue

WEEK:  08.22.2016

The honor of mover of this week goes to Anna Karolina Schmiedlova. Unfortunately for Schmiedlova it has been a disappointing season.  She entered twenty-two tournaments this season and so far she has only gotten to the second round seven times.  If we disregard the Olympics, she has only made it to the second round six times and two of those were first round byes.  Once ranked as high as number 26, Schmiedlova is struggling with a lack of confidence.  She lost four matches after winning the first set.  What has caused the loss in confidence? She made three finals, two semifinals and two quarterfinals last year.  She has already lost valuable points because she lost in the first round of five events where she had made the quarterfinals or better.  Can she turn her season around before she drops out of the top 100?
