MOVER OF THE WEEK: Bradley Klahn

The ATP season officially ended with the conclusion of the ATP Finals tournament yesterday; however, there are many players who continue to toil in the minor leagues in hopes of improving their rankings before the 2019 season begins. Klahn has been ranked as high as 63 and after winning a title on the ATP Challenger circuit over the weekend, he looks to be heading in the right direction. Players ranked outside the top hundred work extremely hard to break that barrier; however, they must be careful not to play all year-long without taking sufficient time off to rest and prepare for the upcoming season.

PLAYERS (within the top 100) SPOTS MOVED NEW RANK
Bradley Klahn (USA) UP  20 77
Reilly Opelka (USA) UP  18 98              CAREER HIGH
Pablo Andujar (ESP) UP  16 83
Luksika Kumkhum UP  15 66              CAREER HIGH

ATP TOUR: the top twenty members remained the same; however, Alexander Zverev and Juan Martin del Potro traded places (#4 and #5 respectively). Novak Djokovic ends the year as #1.

WTA TOUR: the top twenty members remained the same and they all maintained their exact positions from the previous week; Simona Halep ended the 2018 season as #1.

SPOTLIGHT PLAYER: for the second consecutive year, Alexander Zverev ends his season as the number four ranked player on the ATP Tour. While he was unable to defend his Masters’ titles from the previous year, he did successfully defend his title in Washington, D.C. He won four titles this season compared to last year (5); however, this year he won the Nitto ATP Finals title which to date is the biggest title of his career. He became the fourth player to defeat Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in the semifinal and final to win the title (Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and David Nalbandian are the other three players who successfully accomplished that feat). At twenty-one, Zverev also became the youngest ATP Finals champion since 1990.
