Day Two Drama In Paris

Drama

ROLAND GARROS, FRANCE

It was a day that begun with drama when a few seeds withdrew because of injury.

INJURY INTERVENES AGAIN

[6] Petra Kvitova (CZE) withdrew from her first-round match against Sorana Cirstea because of an arm injury.

[25] Felix Auger-Aliassime withdrew from his first-round match against Jordan Thompson because of a groin injury. One wonders why he played so many tournaments coming into Roland Garros, when he clearly did not need the practice.

American Sam Querrey also withdrew from his first-round match against Pedro Martinez Portero because his lingering abdominal injury has not fully healed.
