A twenty-four year difference

Perhaps it is fitting that the two oldest American women tennis players are Serena and Venus Williams, as many, if not all, of the younger players grew up watching them. Some like Cori Gauff, may even have idolized them.

It is interesting that the two youngest American players are both teenagers and each has already won a title, showing right away that they are ready to step up in the big league.

Changing of the American guards

We often talk about the changing of the guards and even though we don’t like to see players retire, we know retirement is inevitable. The Williams sisters have dominated tennis in America for quite a while now and we will be sad to see them leave; however, I think we can say that there are a few players in the top hundred who are showing real potential. Plus, there are quite a few other players still climbing up the rankings who may surprise us.

Who will replace Serena?

Will we ever have another female American player as dominant as Serena Williams? I guess Spain is also wondering, will they ever have another male player as dominant as Rafael Nadal?

The answer: only time will tell!
