Casper Ruud Was Rudely Escorted Off By Borges

Casper Ruud

Casper Ruud knows how to play on clay. He has been a finalist at Roland Garros in 2022 and 2023. Things looked promising for the former Roland Garros finalist after he easily won the first set 6-2. A little nerves on his opponent’s side to begin with and then Ruud got injured. [7] Casper Ruud could not mount up any resistance due to his injury and Nuno Borges won 2-6, 6-4, 6-1, 6-0.

Other Seeds Who Fell On Day Four

[11] Diana Shnaider lost to the often-dangerous Dayana Yastremska 5-7, 5-7. The struggle is real for [20] Stefanos Tsitsipas who lost to a qualifier. Matteo Gigante won the first set, got a little nervous in the second, but then pulled it together to upset the Greek player 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4. Damir Dzumhur, so much potential, but every time you turned around, he was injured. Nice win for him today. Dzumhur defeated [31] Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard 7-6(4), 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.

American Players Rising To The Occasion

Bernarda Pera has been struggling of late; however, I will say it again, some players get up for the majors. It is nice to seeing her competing. She defeated [18] Donna Vekic 6-2, 4-6, 7-6(3). I am liking how the American women are performing so far. [16] Amanda Anisimova easily dispatched her opponent Viktorija Golubic 6-0, 6-2.

[12] Tommy Paul took the long way home and that could have repercussions in the next round. Marton Fucsovics is always a dangerous player; yet, how did he let a two-set lead disappear? Paul dug deep and got crystal clear on what was needed to steal the victory. The American won 4-6, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5, 6-4.

American duo of [9] Evan King/Christian Harrison defeated S. Gille/J. Zielinski 6-3, 6-4. [15] Frances Tiafoe got a straight sets victory of the veteran Pablo Carreno Busta. Tiafoe won 6-4, 6-3, 6-1. Unfortunately, we automatically lose an American player when they play each other. In this case, it was Jenson Brooksby. Although he pushed back in the third set, it was a case of too little too late. [23] Sebastian Korda won 6-1, 6-2, 7-6(2). The American doubles team of Ryan Seggerman/Learner Tien defeated their wild card opponents A. Gea/M. Kouame 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
