Taylor Fritz will not surpass his 2024 performance at Roland Garros. The American seeded fourth and ranked number four, fell in four sets to Daniel Altmaier. I often wonder how you lose your momentum after coming back to win the second set. However, when it comes to the American men on clay, they could probably lose the match from two sets to none up. Altmaier won 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1. The question inquiring minds want to know is will this loss knock Taylor Fritz out of the top ten?

Robin Montgomery got a 6-2, 6-1 victory of the French player, Diane Parry. Good work by Bernarda Pera who dispatched the former top ten player, Caroline Garcia, 6-4, 6-4. Garcia has announced that she will retire from tennis at the end of the 2025 season.
