Coco Gauff did it on her second attempt. In 2022, Gauff made it to the final of Roland Garros, only to be summarily dispatched by the then number one ranked player, Iga Swiatek. Swiatek still leads their H2H 11:4, but Gauff has won the last three matches contested. Keep an eye on this rivalry.

Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka have a more evenly balanced rivalry. Prior to the final, their H2H was 5:5. They say the one who has better control of the mind will eventually prevail. In this case it was evident that Gauff had better thoughts and thinking pattern, which manifested as better emotional sobriety. Once again, Sabalenka was tripped up by the emotions she created. If you missed the match, it was a battle and displayed the fight and determination of the American.
