Lois Boisson is ranked three hundred and sixty-one. Can she do what no French woman has done since Mary Pierce last won the title in 2000? Boisson is just twenty-two years old, and she is taking full advantage of her wild card admission into the main draw of Roland Garros. She is the first women’s wild card to reach the French Open semifinals. Although she did get to a career high WTA ranking of one hundred and fifty-two last year, Boisson has been laboring on the ITF tour.

In the fourth round she defeated [3] Jessica Pegula. The French woman defeated [6] Mirra Andreeva 7-6(6), 6-3 to get to the semifinals. Next up for Boisson will be the [2] Coco Gauff.

[2] Coco Gauff defeated fellow American, [7] Madison Keys 6-7(6), 6-4, 6-1. If Gauff makes as many double faults as she did against Keys, she may not get back to the French Open final. Lois Boisson played her first ITF match in 2019 at the age of sixteen and won her first ITF title in 2022. Boisson has nothing to lose and with the French crowd on her side, she can potentially upset the number two seed. All the pressure will be on Gauff’s shoulder as she faces an opponent for the first time, who will have the full support of the French crowd. Who will tame their nerves the best to win the match? I am rooting for Gauff, but Boisson is playing with house money and feeling invincible.
Novak Djokovic Amongst The Men’s Semifinalists
[1] Jannik Sinner will face [6] Novak Djokovic and [8] Lorenzo Musetti will try to upset [2] Carlos Alcaraz. Sinner and Djokovic are tied at a H2H of 4:4, with Sinner winning their last three encounters. Of note, Djokovic won their only encounter on clay; however, that was in 2021. Alcaraz leads the H2H against Musetti 5:1, with the Spaniard winning the last five encounters.
