Maya Joint Claims First Title Ahead Of Wimbledon

Maya Joint

Maya Joint captured my attention the minute I saw her picture. I noticed her features and wondered what her nationality was. I was surprised to discover that she was born in Detroit, Michigan (USA). Lately I have become aware that there are many players not representing the country of their birth. Then we have some who have outright changed their nationality for obvious reasons: money and social differences.

Joint Claims First Title At Nineteen

It always impresses me when a player wins their first main Tour title. They go up to another level in my estimation when they are still teenagers. Maya Joint turned nineteen in April and plays under the Australian flag. Joint claimed her first title on grass at the Lexus Eastbourne Open that ended two days ago. She outlasted Alexandra Eala 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(10) and it was a fight to the end.
