[10] Emma Navarro is looking good. The American defeated Veronika Kudermetova 6-1, 6-2. Hailey Baptiste had her hands full against the eighteen-year-old Canadian, Victoria Mboko. Baptiste was down 1-4 in the first set and looked so frustrated I thought she would crumble. It was nice to see her digging deep and calming the nerves to tighten up her game for the 7-6(6), 6-3 victory. Danielle Collins just keeps going. Despite announcing her plans to retire from tennis last year, she is playing some of her best tennis. There seems to be no pressure and when she is ready to walk away, more than likely she simply will do just that. Collins defeated Veronika Erjavec 6-4, 6-1. [29] Brandon Nakashima defeated fellow American Reilly Opelka 7-5, 6-2, 6-7(6), 6-3.

Home crowd favorite, [4] Jack Draper, ran into a resurgent Marin Cilic. Cilic turned back the clock to defeat the British number one 6-4, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4. Cilic made three consecutive Wimbledon quarterfinals before making the final in 2017; thus, he knows how to play on grass. American [13] Tommy Paul drops the ball once again. After winning the first set easily, he lost his momentum and his way. The problem with grass is that things can slip away easily and it is often difficult to regroup if you do not have the correct mindset. Paul lost to Sebastian Ofner, who is currently ranked one hundred and sixty-five. However, we should keep in mind that Ofner has been ranked as high as number thirty-seven. Therefore, Paul losing 6-1, 5-7, 4-6, 5-7 is not such a big upset.
Qualifier, August Holmgren, upset [21] Tomas Machac 7-6(5), 6-7(8), 6-7(5), 7-5, 7-6(5). [25] Felix Auger-Aliassime continues to be an enigma. He has so much talent, but it is not being consistently expressed when he steps on the court. His game is too rigid, which I feel is not his natural style and may explain his inconsistent results. Today he lost to Jan-Lennard Struff despite winning the first set 6-3. The German came back to win 7-6(9), 6-3, 6-4. American [28] Sofia Kenin faltered in her bid to go deep at Wimbledon, losing 1-6, 6-7(4) to Jessica Bouzas Maneiro.
