Felix Auger-Aliassime has been struggling to find his top form. This match would test the Canadian, since [3] Alexander Zverev led their H2H 6:2. By rights Zverev should have won this encounter; however, Auger-Aliassime had other plans. One wonders what is going on with Zverev? He continues to underperform at the majors, which given his talent is surprising.

Magdalena Frech, who is ranked thirty-three, was not much of challenge for Gauff. [3] Coco Gauff used this match to continue ironing out the kinks in her serve. The American still had four double faults though, but at least it was less than ten. Gauff probably had more confidence today knowing that she led their H2H 2:0, without dropping a set. Today it was another one-sided victory for Gauff at 6-3, 6-1. [8] Amanda Anisimova had to maintain her focus to win this match in three sets. Jaqueline Cristian was equally determined to win this match; however, Anisimova won 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.
