Iva Jovic And Frances Tiafoe Amongst Day Two Winners

Seventeen-year-old American Iva Jovic defeated the veteran player, Aliaksandra Sasnovich, 7-6(6), 6-3. Taylor Townsend defeated Antonia Ruzic 6-4, 6-4. Tristan Boyer defeated James Duckworth and is moving into the second round. Boyer won 6-3, 7-5, 6-4. Jenson Brooksby had a battle on his hands against Aleksandar Vukic. It was a five-set battle for Brooksby, who squeaked by with the 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 victory. Nice win for Ann Li, who defeated Rebecca Sramkova 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.

Madison Keys Amongst Fallen Day Two Seeds

A surprise by stats but not really a surprise as [6] Madison Keys has struggled since winning the Australian Open earlier this year. Renata Zarazua pulled off a major upset against a player who blew her off the court last year on clay. You would think it was advantage Keys, but not so. Zarazua won 6-7(10), 7-6(3), 7-5. You watch Keys defeat Iga Swiatek to make it to the Australian Open final, and you wonder, where was that Keys yesterday?

Former top ten player and major champion, Barbora Krejcikova, defeated [22] Victoria Mboko 6-3, 6-2. It was never a contest as the Canadian came out shaky and never conquered her nerves. American [28] Alex Michelsen could not utilize the momentum of winning the first set. Francisco Comesana won 1-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova will not go away. Today she upset [30] Dayana Yastremska 6-7)5), 7-6(5), 6-4.
