Jan-Lennard Struff was ranked as high as number twenty-one in June of 2023. Like many tennis players before him, his career has suffered because of injuries. Known for his booming serve, that skill has not translated into as many titles as he would have liked. He turned professional in 2009.
It Took 15 Years Before He Won His First
Jan-Lennard Struff made it to his first career final in 2021 at a clay court tournament in Munich. Two years later he would get to his second and third finals, one of which was an ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Madrid. In 2024, the German finally won his first career ATP singles title. Of note, it was the tournament where he made his first ATP singles final.

The German has gotten his best results on clay, which happens to be his favorite surface. Perhaps he should consider focusing his efforts on playing clay or grass court tournaments for the time he has left before he retires. He had to go through the qualifying rounds of the US Open to make the main draw and that should not be the case for a player of his caliber.
