Marin Cilic, once ranked as high as number three in the world in 2018, has experienced the pinnacle of tennis success with his memorable victory at the US Open in 2014. Despite his impressive career, like many athletes, he has faced setbacks due to injuries. His last singles title came in 2024, and now, at thirty-seven years old, the question remains: does he have enough left to secure another major title? It’s a testament to his passion and dedication to the sport that he continues to compete. Perhaps his love for the game keeps him going, as it has for so many who find it hard to step away from the court.

Recently, Marin Cilic had a chance to reach the final in Dallas, but he fell short against an “injured” Taylor Fritz, despite pushing the number one seed to two tiebreak sets. This setback, however, does not diminish his potential. Tennis has taught us that you can never truly count anyone out, and while it may be a long shot, grass remains his best surface for clinching that elusive second major title. Cilic’s past performances in major finals, including Wimbledon in 2017 and the Australian Open in 2018, highlight his capability and resilience on the big stage.
