Serena rebounds nicely

2013 SerenaBNP Paribas Open, Indian Wells

[CR1] Serena Williams (USA) vs. [CR32] Zarina Diyas (KAZ)

It appears that the emotions have subsided and Serena is back to playing with focus and ferocity.  Diyas did not have enough weapons to stop Serena’s attacking game today.  It was good to see that Serena has processed the emotions associated with this tournament and today we saw the player that we are used to seeing, one motivated by a powerful desire to win.

Diyas was feeling some tension of her own, playing the number one ranked player for the first time and on center court as well, started off holding serve and even broke Serena. However, despite her efforts to maintain the momentum, Serena had better rhythm on her shots and Diyas was no match for her. A bit of tension crept into her game as she served for the match, but even that was not going to stop Serena from gaining the easy victory 6-2, 6-0.

  1. Yes indeed, it was great seeing Serena out on the court with her mind obviously focused on the game and nothing else.
