Nishikori Finally Beats Del Potro

Swiss Indoors Basel, Switzerland

[5] Kei Nishikori (JPN) vs. [42] Juan Martin Del Potro (ARG)

Del Potro led their head-to-head 4:0 coming into this match; however, it has been over four years since their last encounter.  A lot has changed for both players.  Would he continue his dominance today over the much improved Nishikori or would Nishikori find a way to turn the tables on the resurgent Argentinian?  Del Potro seemed a tad slower today and Nishikori, completely rested, took full advantage to get his first win 7-5, 6-4.

Erste Bank Open, Austria

[2] Andy Murray (GBR) vs. [27] John Isner (USA)

Isner’s season has been plagued by injury and spotty results, a victory today would go a long way towards salvaging the season ; however, it was a tall ask as he had never beaten Murray in six previous attempts.  Today was a blow-out, it was the worst showing by Isner in all their encounters.  Murray won 6-1, 6-3 and advances to the semifinals; his plans of reaching number one at the end of the season still viable.
