Thirteen American women and seven American men played on day one at the first Major of the season. Unfortunately we lost some Americans in the first round because quite a few were slated to play against another American.  We had some surprising upsets and pleasant outcomes for a few Americans as well as some frustrating losses for others.

Shelby Rogers (USA) stuns Simona Halep (4/ROU) 6-3, 6-1.  It was a brilliant performance by Rogers and the upset so far of the tournament.
