Ranking Woes For Ostapenko

WEEK: 02.27.2017

Jelena Ostapenko is the mover of the week.  After making it to the semifinals of Auckland and the third round of the Australian Open, the Latvian teenager has lost in the first round of her last two tournaments.  Her ranking woes are due to the fact that she made the final in Doha last year and this year she did not play, opting instead to compete in Dubai where she lost in the first round.  She is playing in Acapulco this week and hopefully she will go far in the draw and gain some valuable ranking points. She is still a teenager and has to grow into her game; give her time and she will get it together once she figures out what her weapons are and how to use them consistently and effectively.
