Kuznetsov Hopes To Ride Momentum

WEEK: 05.29.2017

An impressive run to the semifinals of the Geneva Open has given Kuznetsov some much needed ranking points.  This makes Andrey Kuznetsov the mover of the week. He will look to build on this momentum at Roland Garros; however, his first round opponent is the number one ranked player, Andy Murray.  Despite the fact that Murray has been struggling to find his top form this season, I do not think that Kuznetsov will have an easy go in his attempt to upset the number one ranked men’s player; thus he may be disappointed that his momentum gets abruptly stopped by Murray once again.  Yet, this is the first round of a Major and players get inspired.  We have seen some interesting upsets of number one seeds over the years.  Ekaterina Makarova upset the women’s number one seed, Angelique Kerber, in round one earlier in this tournament. Will Kuznetsov be the player that upsets the number one men’s seed?
