Changes in rankings post US Open

The mover of the week honors go to the US Open champion, Sloane Stephens. Playing in her fifth tournament back from an eleven month layoff due to foot surgery, Stephens claims the biggest title of her career. She was not the only player that benefitted from going deep in the draw, quite a few players saw significant changes in their rankings as well.

ATP Tour:  Rafael Nadal and Grigor Dimitrov maintained their previous positions (1 and 9 respectively). #2 Roger Federer; #3 Andy Murray; Alexander Zverev is at another career high, #4; #5 Marin Cilic; #6 Novak Djokovic; #7 Dominic Thiem; #8 Stan Wawrinka. Pablo Carreno Busta cracked the top 10 for the first time in his career at number 10. Kei Nishikori fell to number 14.

WTA Tour: Garbine Muguruza debuts as the new number 1; Simona Halep stayed at number 2; Elina Svitolina is up to number 3; Karolina Pliskova fell to number 4; #5 Venus Williams; #6 Caroline Wozniacki; Johanna Konta and Svetlana Kuznetsova maintained their previous positions (7 and 8 respectively); and #9 Dominika Cibulkova. Jelena Ostapenko cracked the top ten for the first time in her career at number 10.

AMERICAN #1: Sam Querrey debuts as the number one American male player at #16.
