Niculescu’s Ranking Takes A Plunge

Ranking

WEEK: 10.23.2017

Defending champion, Monica Niculescu, was unable to defend her Luxembourg Open title this year. In fact, she could not get past the first round, which resulted in a loss of points and a significant drop in her ranking. Unfortunately for the Romanian, she gets the mover of the week honors and this is certainly not the way she wanted to gain attention or end the season as she will most likely have to go through the qualifying rounds of the smaller tournaments at the beginning of the 2018 season until she can improve her ranking. She should get into the main draw of the Australian Open though as she is still in the top 100.
