Magda Linette Makes A Move Up

Linette

MOVER OF THE WEEK

At twenty-seven years old, Magda Linette, continues to fight the battle to win her first career singles title. She claimed a smaller title in the 125K series in 2014 and came close to winning the Japan Open in 2015, but since then she has struggled to play consistent tennis. On Tour since 2009, time is running out for Linette. The players are younger, faster, stronger and hungrier and even though thirty is the new twenty, she does not have a dependable enough weapon to give her an advantage. The Polish player achieved her highest ranking to date of fifty-five in February of last year. Like so many athletes, Linette has been a victim of injury: in 2014 it was an ankle injury and last year it was a foot injury that derailed her. Currently working her way back up the rankings, she hopes she can stay healthy and continue to produce enough quality tennis to perhaps gain that first significant WTA singles title soon.
