The 2020 French Open gets underway tomorrow. For many who were used to Roland Garros in May, this will seem strange, so strange in fact that I forgot to look at the draws on Friday.

Different Conditions This Year

It will be a different French Open in many ways. There will be no huge crowds, the temperature and weather conditions will be much different at this time of the year, and the king of clay is not the outright favorite . How will this affect the king of clay, Rafael Nadal?

Lack of Confidence in Top Players

I think it will add more stress and given his recent loss, I do not think Nadal is coming into this Roland Garros with his usual level of confidence. On the women’s side, there is also a lack of confidence in a few of the top ten players. Sofia Kenin is probably still reeling from her recent 0-6, 0-6 loss to Victoria Azarenka. Serena Williams is also not feeling too confident with her form (her physical injury does not help).

All in all, it makes for a very interesting 2020 French Open. Who will be this year’s Cinderalla story?
