Pune Title Propels Joao Sousa Up The Rankings

Joao Sousa

Sousa Back Into The Top 100

Joao Sousa had been struggling and usually this is due to one of two reasons: injury [physical or psychological]; or a genuine loss of interest in the sport. Why would someone continue to play if they have lost interest in the sport? Why does someone stay in a job they no longer like? The perks, the fear of actually letting go, or questioning their desire for change. Ambivalence and fear keep more people stuck than the actual perks of a situation.

Joao Sousa Is Another Victim Of Injury

I have tried to decide which injury is the worst injury for a tennis player. I came to the realization that every injury that causes pain is bad.  There is no worst injury because they all have the same negative impact on the psyche. Injury also forces you to change your game, which may cause other injuries and destroy your form. Thus, it is always a testament of a player’s desire to play that they persevere through recovery and periods of not winning to get back to their top form.

Mover Of The Week Honors Go To Joao Sousa

Sousa got a much-needed victory over the weekend. The Portuguese player won the title in Pune. He went three sets in four of his matches, but that becomes irrelevant since he claimed the trophy. This title is his first since 2018 and it propelled him back into the top hundred. Once ranked as high as number twenty-eight, he knows there is still work to be done.
