That may be surprising to see given the fact that Sloane Stephens is a former US Open champion. It’s also surprising when you recall that she was also a finalist at the French Open. There is always more to the story when a player struggles to find their top form following success.

There was injury; however, the injury that the fans do not often appreciate is the psychological injury. What damage is being done to these athletes when we place such lofty expectations on them to perform at championship level daily? Some players handle success much better than others.

It’s always interesting to watch Sloane Stephens. My husband said she is probably the most graceful tennis player on tour. “She moves without stress or struggle, as if she has all the time in the world.” That observation is why it is difficult for me to watch her struggle so much with her game. I know it is mindset and attitude; therefore, it is mental and emotional.
In Everything There Must Be Commitment
No matter what we do in life, if we want to succeed we must be fully committed. It makes sense that if you want to be a top ranked tennis player, you must be fully committed. Fully committed to make the sacrifice and put in the work daily to get the results. Although it is not always enjoyable, you are more inclined to do the work when you are passionate about what you do. Thus, the question is: “Is Sloane Stephens passionate about playing tennis?”

ATP: there is a new number one ranked player this week and Hubert Hurkacz is back in the top ten at number ten. The top four players are: [1] Daniil Medvedev; [2] Novak Djokovic; [3] Alexander Zverev; and [4] Rafael Nadal.
WTA: there were some reshufflings amongst the top ten members, but there were no new members. The top four members are: [1] Ashleigh Barty; [2] Barbora Krejcikova; [3] Aryna Sabalenka; and [4] Iga Swiatek.
