Anastasia Potapova Wins First WTA Title

Anastasia Potapova

Mover Of The Week: Anastasia Potapova

Anastasia Potapova has been knocking at the door since 2018. She was a finalist in two previous WTA events but could not cross the finish line. This time, she made no mistake. Interestingly, Veronika Kudermetova won their only previous encounter earlier this year.

Potapova Determined Third Time Is Lucky

Potapova had to go through the qualifying rounds to get an opportunity to play in the main draw. History and ranking favored Kudermetova. However, Potapova did not let that stop her. It seemed like it would be a good match because Kudermetova was holding her own. Unfortunately, she lost her way and never recovered. She had chances to make this a contest in the second set but could not capitalize. She was broken four times on her serve and only managed to win a single game by breaking her opponent.
