David Goffin Is Back In The Top 50

David Goffin

Thirty-one-year-old David Goffin got a much-needed boost to his rankings over the weekend. Five years ago he got to a career high at number seven. As with many tennis players, he suffered an injury. It was a freak knee injury that has plagued him since; thus, it is nice to see him on the winning side of things once again.

Mover Of The Week: David Goffin

He will take this victory on clay in Marrakech as a nice boost to his confidence with the French Open rapidly approaching. David Goffin would love to build on this title; however, he knows that the landscape of tennis has changed. The top ten is now dominated by players twenty-six and younger. Of course, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal are over thirty and still going strong in the top ten. For most players over thirty, the contest is not only against the opponent, but it is also age.

The speed, mentally and physically, is diminished. Recovery is slowed, and the body breaks down easier. Recovering from injuries takes longer and negatively impacts their game more.
