Top Seed Iga Swiatek Crushes The Opposition

Iga Swiatek wins tennis match

Iga Swiatek continued her dominance over the field. Today’s opponent was Lesia Tsurenko. The Ukrainian player came up short in every category. However, there were some intriguing rallies, but in the end, it was a 6-2, 6-0 victory for Swiatek.

Defending Champion Loses In First Round

The number two seed and defending champion Barbora Krejcikova was nowhere near her form from last year. It was a very strange match. After winning the first set easily, the Czech completely lost her way. She seemed not quite there, as if someone hit the off switch. Unexplainably, she lost the ability to keep the balls in play. The nineteen-year-old Diane Parry got the win of her career on home soil. Currently ranked ninety-seven, Parry defeated the defending champion 1-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Other Americans On Day Two At Roland Garros

Alison Riske defeated Dayana Yastremska 3-3; Brandon Nakashima defeated Kamil Majchrzak in five sets; and Mackenzie McDonald defeated Franco Agamenone in four sets.

[17] Reilly Opelka lost in straight sets to Filip Krajinovic. The American lost his focus and never regained it. Perhaps this was a case of playing too much and peaking too early. Unfortunately for the American, today’s result does not match his recent performance on clay.
