It was a day of mayhem and upsets. For a long while, it looked like [11] Coco Gauff would be one of the day two casualties. However, Coco Gauff was determined to fight off the stern attack from Elena-Gabriela Ruse and her reward was a 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory.

Christian Harrison Gets To Second Round Of A Major

[251] Christian Harrison defeated Jay Clarke 7-6(3), 6-1, 7-6(6). Talk about perseverance, fifteen years ago Harrison turned professional. In 2016 he made his first ever main draw appearance at a major. Today’s victory was a major accomplishment. Jack Sock defeated Bernabe Zapata Miralles 7-6(6), 6-4, 6-4. It’s nice to see Sock back on the courts because he knows how to play on this surface. [20] Amanda Anisimova defeated Yue Yuan 6-3, 6-4 and Cindy Liu fought hard to defeat Nuria Parrizas Diaz 7-5, 6-3. Lauren Davis upended fellow American, Madison Brengle, 6-2, 7-5, while [262] Catherine Harrison defeated Arantxa Rus 6-1, 6-4.

Belinda Bencic, Highest Seed To Lose Today

[14] Belinda Bencic lost 4-6, 7-5, 2-6 to Qiang Wang. [18] Jil Teichmann lost to Ajla Tomljanovic 2-6, 3-6.  [21] Camila Giorgi lost in straight sets to Magdalena Frech.
