Lorenzo Musetti has been knocking at the door for a while, although he is only just twenty-years-old. The Italian turned professional in 2019. In 2021 he had the number one ranked Novak Djokovic against the ropes in Roland Garros, winning the first two sets before the wheels came off completely. I do not remember what tournament I was following when I first saw him play, but I remember thinking, “he has a beautiful one-handed backhand.”

Lorenzo Musetti Gets Mover Of The Week Honors

It is refreshing to watch this young man play. He has some of the stylish qualities we have come to expect from Italian players. However, do not be deceived, Lorenzo Musetti also has power and a beautiful backhand. He gets to his first ATP Tour singles final and walks away with his first title after defeating his top ten opponent, Carlos Alcaraz, in three sets. What more will Musetti accomplish before the season ends?
