The top four ATP and WTA tennis players ended 2022 on a high. Iga Swiatek ended the year as the number one ranked female player. While she did not win the year end finals, she had a remarkably successful 2022 season. The Polish player captured eight singles titles. Of the eight titles, two of them were majors: Roland Garros and US Open. Ons Jabeur ended her season at a career high of number two. However, she was not quite as successful as Swiatek. Jabeur won two singles titles.

Caroline Garcia Rocked In 2022

Jessica Pegula ended her season on a high as well, at number three. Pegula managed to win one title this year, which was a big one. She captured the WTA1000 event in Guadalajara. Rounding out the top four is Caroline Garcia. Garcia had an amazing 2022 season, which included winning the WTA Finals. The French player won four titles, which propelled her back to her career high of number four. As fans we are all excited to see what these players will bring in 2023. We know they are all doing the work to be at their best for the new season. The WTA season starts up with the United Cup on December 29th, 2022.

Two Spaniards Hold The Top Two Spots

Nineteen year old Carlos Alcaraz took the season by storm. While we may have seen the potential, I think Alcaraz surprised a lot of people. He ended the 2022 season as the number one ranked player and the winner of five titles. Amongst those titles is his first major title at the US Open. He also won two ATP Masters 1000 events. At nineteen, he has six titles to his name.

Rafael Nadal ended his year a bit rocky after such a promising start. As usual, his Achilles heel was an injury. Once again, Nadal failed to capture the ATP Finals title and at his age and condition, the chance is pretty slim that he ever will. Nevertheless, he won four titles this season, two of which were majors: Australian Open and Roland Garros.

Casper Ruud Ends 2022 At Number Three

Casper Ruud ended at number three after getting to a career high of number two in September. He took home three clay titles this season. Unfortunately, he did not win a major but came pretty close. He made the final of the ATP Finals, US Open, and Roland Garros. The Norwegian is knocking at the door and perhaps next season he will break though.

Stefanos Tsitsipas Ends Season At Number Four

Stefanos Tsitsipas could not hold on to his career high ranking of number three. He won a big title in Monte Carlo and a smaller title on grass in Mallorca. What will he bring in 2023 as he too has been plagued by injury.
