Elina Svitolina

Elina Svitolina married Gael Monfils, an ATP player, in July 2021. In October 2022, she gave birth to their daughter. In July 2023, she stunned a few players en route to her second semifinal showing at Wimbledon. She defeated three seeded players to get to the semifinals. Amongst the seeds Svitolina defeated was the number one ranked player. The Ukrainian lost to the eventual champion, Marketa Vondrousova, who had beaten her the last two times they played.

Elina Svitolina Is Eyeing The Top Ten

Svitolina was the number three WTA ranked player in 2017. From her performance at Wimbledon, she looks ready to be back in the top ten. I watched her play a few matches after her return and she looked like she had forgotten how to play tennis. Imagine my surprise when she won the clay court title in Strasbourg. She had clearly regained the ability not only to play, but also to win. That is what champions do, they adapt quickly. Svitolina is playing with a newfound serenity, which will benefit her as she continues to fight her way back up to the top. We wish her much success.
