Naomi Osaka Looks Ready For Another US Open Title

Naomi Osaka

[23] Naomi Osaka deserves much credit for keeping her cool throughout the match. Playing on US soil where the majority of the fans were rooting for [3] Coco Gauff, was not an easy ask. However, Osaka has been there before. She defeated Serena Williams at the US Open in front of a crowd that was very pro Williams. Gauff led their H2H 3:2, but that quickly became irrelevant.

Naomi Osaka Was Dialed In, Coco Gauff Was Not

Naomi Osaka came prepared and although there were a few errors, she never allowed Gauff to feel comfortable. The evidence that Gauff was off her game can be found in the statistics. She made too many errors. Interestingly, when she got her serve in, she was not prepared to play the next point. Gauff was not there mentally; therefore, it was an easy 6-3, 6-2 victory for Osaka.

Amanda Anisimova Gets Another Shot At Swiatek

American [8] Amanda Anisimova got to her first major final this year at Wimbledon. Unfortunately, she was overwhelmed by the occasion and never really showed up in the match. Swiatek double-bageled her 6-0, 6-0. It was a crushing loss for the American, who was in tears at her performance. Today the American defeated [16] Beatriz Haddad Maia 6-0, 6-3 to get another shot at the former number one. Can she shake off that loss and showcase her best tennis this time? All her fans are hoping she will. Let’s go Anisimova!

Iga Swiatek Is Ready To Go All The Way

[2] Iga Swiatek defeated [13] Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-3, 6-1. A very easy day at the office for the Polish player. [11] Karolina Muchova and [27] Marta Kostyuk battled hard in this match. The first set was an easy 6-3 win for Muchova; however, Kostyuk was not ready to roll over and give up the match without a fight. The Ukrainian fought well and took it to a tiebreaker, where she dominated 7-6(0). It came down to a final set and who could execute their game plan more effectively. Kostyuk made too many careless errors and an exhausted Muchova won 6-3, 6-7(0), 6-3.

Another Sweet Victory For Felix Auger-Aliassime

[25] Felix Auger-Aliassime defeated an opponent who has given him fits in the past. However, today [15] Andrey Rublev came up a bit short. The first set was the deciding set in this match. The Canadian got pumped, while the Russian fizzled, losing his mojo and will to compete. Auger-Aliassime righted his ship after a shaky start in the first set. It is some of the best tennis I have seen from Auger-Aliassime in a long time. More importantly, he was mentally focused and emotionally sober. Thus, it is no surprise that he won 7-5, 6-3, 6-4. Next up for the Canadian will be [8] Alex de Minaur. Unlike his two recent opponents, the Canadian has a winning H2H record of 2:0 against the Australian.
