Coco Gauff’s 6–2, 6–1 win over Tamara Korpatsch wasn’t just a routine first‑round victory, it was a sharp, confidence‑restoring performance that snapped her four‑match losing streak on grass. She controlled the match from the first ball, serving with authority. Gauff also struck the ball cleanly off both wings. [7] Coco Gauff played some of the most complete tennis she’s shown in months. Korpatsch simply couldn’t match the American’s pace, precision, or emphatic serving. In the end, Gauff walked off court looking renewed, focused, and dangerous.

Gauff’s talent has been evident since she burst onto the scene as a 15‑year‑old, stunning Venus Williams on the Wimbledon grass in 2019. That moment ignited expectations that have followed her ever since. Has Coco Gauff lived up to them? I believe she has; however, her ceiling still stretches higher. Once she irons out the kink in her serve and fully regains her confidence in that shot, she’ll be a force on every surface. The foundation is already there, and the next level is within reach.

[4] Jessica Pegula defeated Darja Vidmanova. It took a bit for the American to get accustomed to the game of the Czech player, but once she found her stride it was a 7-5, 6-3 victory. [16] Iva Jovic defeated Jaqueline Cristian 7-6(1), 6-0. Alycia Parks defeated Alicia Dudeney 6-3, 6-3. American McCartney Kessler serves up double bagels to Oleksandra Oliynykova. My question: Was this the fastest match recorded in the majors or at Wimbledon? What happened to the Ukrainian? Good effort from Claire Liu. She dropped the first set but righted the ship to get the 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Hanne Vandewinkel.

Kudos to Martin Damm, currently ranked 106, who dug deep in a match that consisted of four tiebreak sets. Damm defeated Marco Trungelliti 7-6(5), 6-7(5), 7-6(2), 7-6(5). Jensen Brooksby defeated Aleksandar Vukic, a potentially dangerous opponent, 7-6(7), 6-1, 6-1. Ethan Quinn upset [14] Luciano Darderi 7-6(7), 7-5, 6-2. This victory may inspire the American after his recent loss to a higher ranked player in the Mallorca final.
Casper Ruud Amongst The Fallen Day One Seeds
[11] Casper Ruud lost in straight sets to Hubert Hurkacz. This is not a surprise as the Polish player has the game that is suited for the grass courts. Hurkacz won 6-4, 6-2, 7-6(7). [12] Andrey Rublev had a tough loss to fellow Russian, Roman Safiullin. Safiullin won 6-4, 6-7(6), 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(12). [20] Maja Chwalinska did not transition well to grass and was upset by Mananchaya Sawangkaew of Thailand. Despite winning the first set 6-2, the Polish player lost her way. Sawangkaew won 2-6, 7-5, 6-2.

[27] Anastasia Potapova lost 2-6, 3-6 to Jessica Bouzas Maneiro. A tough loss for American [28] Ann Li. Zeynep Sonmez defeated Li 7-5, 1-6, 6-4. This was a nice victory for American Michael Zheng. Ranked one hundred and forty-four, he defeated [26] Cameron Norrie in a four-hour match. There were three tiebreak sets, of which Norrie won two. Unfortunately for the British player, he could not win the third tiebreak set to win the match. Zheng won 6-7(7), 6-2, 6-7(2), 6-3, 7-6(4).
