062015 Belinda BencicAegon International Eastbourne, Great Britain

Women’s Final: [CR13] Agnieszka Radwanska (POL) vs. [CR31] Belinda Bencic (SUI)

Bencic was hoping to win her first WTA singles title.  In her path, Radwanska, a player known for her consistency and determination.  Yet, things have been a tad rocky for Radwanska and she was hoping to turn things around in this final. In her path, a feisty teenager with the game to back up her attitude, Bencic. The first two sets of the match were very competitive, each player battling to wrestle the momentum away from the other.

Bencic took the first set after an exchange of breaks and the second set went to Radwanska the same way.  The experience of age was supposed to give Radwanska the advantage; however, the lack of confidence that has plagued her game of late, returned. Bencic displayed her level of confidence as she bounced back from the loss of the second to take an early lead in the third, which seemed to break Radwanska’s will. Bencic won her first WTA title 64, 46, 60 and handed Radwanska another bagel for the season.
