US Open Qualies: Day 2

It was a day of exciting matches all around; although some of Americans did not fare well. I got to see some veterans players and some newcomers.

The following is a photo-essay of my day featuring the matches involving American players. Today’s winners are keeping hope alive that they will get to the main draw of the US Open to play in the official tournament that begins next week Monday.

Wolf lost to Giannessi after winning the first set. The Italian came back to win 2-6, 7-5, 6-2.

Jamie Loeb (USA)
Harriet Dart (GBR)

Loeb lost in straight sets 2-6, 6-7(3) to Dart.

Asia Muhammad (USA)
Basak Eraydin (TUR)

Muhammad won in straight sets 7-5, 6-1.

Noah Rubin (USA)
Gianluca Mager (ITA)

Rubin won easily 6-2, 6-3.

Hailey Baptiste (USA)
Anna Bondar (ITA)

Baptiste was dominant from start to finish, and won 6-3, 6-1.

Robin Anderson (USA)
Xinyun Han (CHN)

Anderson had a battle on her hands, but the American fought back after dropping the second set to win 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

Stefan Kozlov (USA)
Egor Gerasimov (BLR)

Unfortunately despite the effort, it was a straight-sets loss for the American 4-6, 4-6.

American Donald Young lost 3-6, 7-6(4), 5-7 to Jason Jung (TPE).
