Linda Fruhvirtova, Czech Teen Sensation Wins Big

Linda Fruhvirtova

Linda Fruhvirtova may not be a household name yet, but she has been making a lot of noise to those who follow the sport seriously.  I cannot remember when I first heard her name, but it was this year. I was curious to see the teenager who beat Elise Mertens and Victoria Azarenka at the Miami Open.

Linda Fruhvirtova Is Just Seventeen

I am old enough to remember when top ranked tennis players were teenagers. Thus, I am not amazed that she is seventeen, because that was the norm for a very long time. What captured my attention is that in this current era, she is going against the norm. Which indicates several things to me: she is a smart tennis player; she has some weapons; and she is a competitor with confidence. To withstand the power game today, one has to be equally powerful, or wiser tactically.

Excited For This Young Czech Talent

This Czech player broke on the scene in 2019. Three years later, she has done what many tennis players have failed to do, won a singles title on the professional level. In the process, she skyrocketed up the rankings from 130 to 74. As fans, we get so excited and unintentionally put so much pressure on these phenoms. I pray that Fruhvirtova has a solid team behind her and that she takes time to enjoy this tennis journey she’s on.
