Ben Shelton is giving American fans something to cheer about. I am not knocking the other American men on tour, but his quarterfinal showing at the Australian Open has given us something to get excited about. Shelton played with the ferocity and the confidence I have not seen in a young player since Carlos Alcaraz. Better still, Ben Shelton has the weapons to make an impression on his opponents.

Therefore, I am excited to see how his game will develop. I love his enthusiasm, but he also does not seem too full of himself. Let’s hope the pressure of expectation does not become too big a burden for his young shoulders. We have seen a few players who have crumbled under the weight of expectations.
