Christopher Eubanks, A Study In Perseverance

Christopher Eubanks

Christopher Eubanks turned professional in 2017. I often wonder when I see such tall players, why not basketball. He is lean of frame and not necessarily the best mover. However, Eubanks stands out as a former college (Georgia Tech 2015-2017) tennis player who turned professional with a big serve.

Eubanks Wins First Title In Mallorca

As an American, I tend to get excited when I see a new black face on tour; therefore, I keep an eye on them. This was not an easy tournament for the American. Christopher Eubanks was in a battle from his very first match. He was pushed to three sets by another American, Alex Michelsen. Then he had another three-set battle against another American, Ben Shelton, in the second round.

Grass May Be Eubanks Best Surface

Perhaps it is not surprising that he won his first title on grass. Players with big serves tend to do well on this surface. He was pushed all the way until he got to the final. It should have been difficult to cross the finish line as this was his first ATP tour final; however, Eubanks made it look easy. He defeated Adrian Mannarino, who has been ranked as high as twenty-two, 6-1, 6-4.

Christopher Eubanks Persevered To Victory

It was probably not easy making the transition from college to the professional tour. There were setbacks along the way. Early in his professional career there were losses that probably stung; however, Eubanks and his team believed in his game. They believed he had what it takes to win on the ATP tour. He took advantage of the wildcards and he simply kept believing.
