Struff Climbs Up The Rankings

WEEK:  11.07.2016

Jan-Lennard Struff is the mover of the week with his impressive performance at the BNP Paribas Masters last week.  He knocked out Stan Wawrinka in the second round before losing in three sets to John Isner in the third round.  Struff will want to build on this in 2017 because he was once ranked as high as number 46.  He was reminded last week that he can compete with the top players so there is no reason why he cannot get back to that level or higher if he puts in the hard work during the off-season.

PLAYERS (within  the top 100) SPOTS MOVED NEW RANK
Jan-Lennard Struff (GER) UP  27 64
Gastao Elias (POR) DOWN  20 86
Steve Darcis (BEL) UP  17 88
Kevin Anderson (RSA) DOWN  12 70
Catherine Bellis (USA) UP  11 90 (CAREER HIGH)

ATP Tour: Andy Murray is the new number 1; Tomas Berdych is back in the top 10 at number 10; there was some shuffling of positions for the rest of the members; and Roger Federer fell out of the top 10 to number 16 (his first time out of the top 10 since 10.07.2002).

WTA Tour: there were no changes in the top ten members from last week.  They all maintained their exact positions from the previous week.

SPECIAL NOTES:  John Isner reclaims the number one American spot in men’s tennis (19).

Catherine Bellis (CiCi) continues to make her presence known on the ITF Circuit; she won the title in the Toronto over the weekend.
