Holger Rune Ruined Djokovic’s Plans In Paris

Holger Rune

Holger Rune wants to be the best, but then again, every tennis player says the same thing. Rune is actually proving that he means what he said. Things looked a bit scrappy this year, but he has turned his 2022 season around nicely with three titles.

Holger Rune Cracks The Top Ten

In 2020, this player from Denmark turned professional. If you have never seen him play, catch him on replay. He genuinely believes in himself and his game. That goes a long way to his having so much success this year. He learns quickly, which is also important if you want to maximize your potential on the courts. Rune makes history by beating five top ten players en route to the title and the first man from Denmark in the top ten.

Rune Upends Defending Paris Champion

It looked for all the world that Djokovic had this victory, but then again, nothing is final until the last ball is played. Down break points in his first service game in the second set, Rune dug deep in his reserves to deny the Serbian three break point opportunities. Down a break in the third set and Holger Rune managed to rattle his opponent, something few players have been able to do. Digging deep again, Rune claimed the three-set victory to win his first Masters 1000 title in Paris, and a spot in the top ten.
